Reformulates Paint Compatible Conveyor Lubricant to Provide Anti-Wear
Properties
New Magna-Kote 1020 Series Offers Greater Protective Capabilities
and Lower Product Volatility
MENOMONEE
FALLS (May 24, 2002) – Behnke Lubricants Inc / JAX, a leading
manufacturer of lubricating oils and greases, and a specialist in
the development and production of industrial, synthetic and food-grade
lubricants, recently made significant improvements to a long-standing
member of its synthetic-based fluid product line. Magna-Kote 1020
series (ISO 22, 150 and 220), high-temperature, water-soluble synthetic
fluids compounded for chain and conveyor systems in paint-process
operations, have been reformulated to offer critical heat and environmental
protection, increased anti-wear capabilities, and reduced product
volatility.
JAX Magna-Kote 1020 series are 100% synthetic-based fluids utilized
for chain and conveyor lubrication in operations where temperatures
can cause severe and premature lubricant failure and conveyor chain
wear. The base fluid incorporates a high flash point and excellent
anti-wear properties, and also exhibits strong metal adhesion.
Being a water-soluble lubricant, Magna-Kote 1020 is ideal in applications
where compatibility with water-dispersed and E-coat surface treatments
are required. Plants utilizing these lubes range from automotive
assembly to appliance manufacturing and would include heavy equipment
assembly and anywhere water based coatings are applied. Such applications
include lubrication of open race trolley wheels and guide rollers,
chain pins and links, rider plates and wear bars, drive chains,
cable joints and actuator linkages.
"The reformulated Magna Kote 1020 series of lubricants are
designed to be an essential component during a highly critical point
of the paint-coating process," says Eric J. Peter, President
and CEO of JAX. "By eliminating the potential for residue build-up
at high temperatures, JAX Magna-Kote 1020 lubricants significantly
reduce the potential for both operational hazards and inefficiency."
JAX Magna-Kote 1020 offers extensive heat-protection capabilities,
resulting in an improved operational environment. The redesigned
formulae can operate in applications where temperatures rise above
the flash point, as the fluid component does not degrade into carbon
or carbon residue.
Its unique additive technology allows lubricated surfaces to run
through processes cleanly without adversely affecting conveyor chain
life through premature wear. Subsequently, the lubricant supplies
extended equipment life and increased productivity in applications
involving severe temperature conditions. This characteristic is
vital to many paint-process operations, as unwanted deposits may
cause a hazardous plant environment.
The reformulated Magna-Kote 1020 series also provides decreased
product volatility and a notable usage reduction as compared to
its predecessor and competitive products. Current applications utilizing
Magna Kote 1020 require forty to fifty percent less lubricant than
the original formula. This significantly increases the cost-effectiveness
of the product because the reduction of materials cuts lubricant
expenditures by up to fifty percent.
In addition to cost-effectiveness, the redesigned formula also offers
better compatibility for paint operations and has received approvals
at numerous specific plant locations from all of the major coating
manufacturers including DuPont, PPG and BASF.
